Athabasca University School of Business and the UBC Real Estate Division

The Athabasca University School of Business and the Real Estate Division at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia, have articulated an agreement to mutually recognize each other's credit courses. This agreement was pursued in order to increase the credit opportunities for students at both institutions and to facilitate students in their education and career paths (see promotional pamphlet). The two areas of agreement are:

2. Athabasca University B.Comm./B.Man. AACI Completion Program

Athabasca University School of Business recognition of UBC Real Estate Division courses

The Athabasca University School of Business has carried out a comprehensive review of the credit offerings from the Real Estate Division, at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. Athabasca University has formally recognized 19 UBC Real Estate Division courses totaling 60 credits as transferable into Athabasca's Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Commerce degrees. This articulation agreement offers graduates of the UBC Real Estate Division?s programs another option for upgrading their professional education into a recognized business degree.

Transfer credit details

Based on Athabasca University's review, transfer credit will be granted as follows:

Maximum transfer credits: 60

Students who have completed all of these courses and who apply for admission to Athabasca University undergraduate business programs may apply these courses towards the following degrees:

• BMgmt (3 yr.)
• BMgmt (4 yr.)
• BComm (4 yr.)

Athabasca University B.Comm./B.Man. AACI Completion Program

The Athabasca University School of Business, the UBC Real Estate Division, and the Appraisal Institute of Canada have developed a program plan whereby students in Athabasca's business programs can complete the educational requirements for the Appraisal Institute of Canada's Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation as a part of their business degree studies. Having met all of the educational requirements for the AACI designation, the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Management graduate can immediately be hired as a candidate appraiser, gain the necessary work experience, and be a fully accredited commercial appraiser in less than one year from graduation. This offers Athabasca business graduates a clear and defined career path into the growing appraisal profession.

Program plans that accomplish AACI degree completion are as follows:

• Bachelor of Commerce - General/AACI Completion Program
• Bachelor of Management - General/AACI Completion Program (4-year)

Note that students will need an offical evaluation for the Athabasca University programs and that each assessment is handled on an individual basis. If a student has completed any other education, enrolled in Athabasca's post-diploma programs, or wishes to select a major, these plans may not be applicable.
