The Senior Course Specialist is key member of the Real Estate Division’s academic team. The position offers the opportunity to work with diverse participants in the real estate and educational community in a supportive and collegial environment. A passion for real estate and a commitment to providing our students with an exceptional educational experience is a must!

The Real Estate Division delivers a comprehensive range of industry-driven real estate programs and examinations that serve the needs of the real estate community locally, nationally, and internationally.  This includes courses and examinations required for licensing in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, as well as national education programs leading to designations with the Appraisal Institute of Canada,  Real Estate Institute of British Columbia, and other professional real estate groups.

The Senior Course Specialist forms part of the team responsible for the Division’s educational offerings. The course specialist works with real estate stakeholders to ensure course materials and delivery methods are up to date, accurate, and the best quality possible. Responsibilities include:

  • researching, writing, and editing course books, assignments, and exams on various real estate related topics;
  • collaborating with real estate industry stakeholders, subject matter experts, curriculum developers, and instructional support staff to plan and facilitate the delivery of the Division’s educational programs;
  • online instruction, both recorded presentations and live webinars;
  • recruiting and managing instructors, markers, and tutors; and
  • acting as a content and academic advisor to a wide range of students. 

The ideal candidate has post-secondary education in real estate, finance, or economics plus work experience in real estate or education. A professional designation in real estate is an asset, as is a Master’s degree in Education. Excellence in communication and project management skills are a must.

Salary range: $76,000 to $92,000 depending upon education and experience.  Plus enjoy a generous work-life balance with UBC’s attractive vacation and benefits package, and a hybrid work schedule.
