AIC Members are required to complete professional development credits as part of the Institute’s mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program. A mandatory component of the CPD program is the completion of the Professional Practice Seminar.
The Professional Practice Seminar:
Provides an update on changes to CUSPAP from one cycle to the next
Raises Member awareness and provides advice on key professional practice issues
Gives Members tools and information to empower them to achieve and maintain the highest standards of professional practice
The course is designed and presented by designated AIC members and is delivered through UBC’s distance learning platform. Members may begin the course at any time and proceed at their own pace, providing they complete the course by the March 15, 2023 deadline. Designated AIC members receive 7 CPD credits upon successfully completing the PPS online course.
Course Overview
This course is divided into four modules:
Module 1: CUSPAP Changes 2022

Registration
Professional Practice Seminar (PPS) Online Course 2022-2023: $345
Other valuation organizations may recognize the PPS course as a demonstration of Canadian valuation standards for designation or workplace purposes; AIC membership is not required to register. The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) accepts the PPS course for Canadian residents as meeting the appraisal standards recertification requirement for IAAO designations. Note that students new to the valuation industry are recommended to instead register in the Introduction to Professional Practice (ITPP) course. Registering in the PPS course requires an AIC membership number.
PPS Classroom Supplement
AIC members who have attended a classroom presentation of the PPS course must successfully complete the four quizzes in order to achieve CPD credits. The quizzes are completed on UBC’s website. There is no set schedule required, but the four quizzes must be completed within one year of attendance of the PPS classroom presentation. Classroom attendees are sent a link to register for the Professional Practice Supplement course – please note there is no additional cost for registration.
