Research Centres & Outreach

Peter P. Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics

The Dhillon Centre views business ethics as encompassing how individuals and companies can operate in ways that promote integrity, compassion, inclusion, responsibility, and societal good. We consider business ethics to be a spectrum with ethical leadership and decision making by individuals on one end, and organizational values, strategies, and practices that foster responsible business on the other end of the continuum.

The Montalbano Centre for Responsible Leadership Development

As we face global challenges that are massive in scale and scope, we must redefine what leadership means and how business gets done. That’s why we will equip leaders with the tools and rigorous insights to make the right decisions, build trust with stakeholders and create meaningful impact. It’s about embracing a set of core values and acting upon them with courage, compassion and commitment.

Decision Insights for Business & Society (DIBS)

DIBS is a behavioural research and policy solutions initiative at UBC Sauder. Our mission is to improve the outcomes across major social challenges by improving our understanding of decision-making and helping people make better choices—choices that are better for the individual and better for the world.

UBC Sustainability Initiative

In 1990, UBC signed the Talloires Declaration, a 10-point action plan for incorporating sustainability into higher education. We were the first university in Canada to adopt a sustainable development policy in 1997, and the first to open an office devoted to campus sustainability in 1998. Now, sustainability is deeply embedded across UBC, thanks to the dedication and commitment of our faculty, staff, and students. Find out who does what on campus, and how we make it happen.

W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics

The W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics is an interdisciplinary research unit within the School of Population and Public Health at UBC. Our mission is to advance research and teaching of applied ethics, conceived as the application of normative methods to core issues in science and technology ethics and policy, organizational ethics, animal welfare, health, the environment, and research ethics.
