BIG Difference BC Conference

Save the for BIG Difference BC 2023 on Friday, November 3, 2023!  Each fall, UBC-DIBS co-hosts this annual conference that celebrates using the behavioural and decision sciences for positive social impact by sharing case studies, research results, best practices, and lessons learned. In between conferences, you can check out videos and materials from previous years.

UBC-DIBS Behavioural Insights Seminar Series

Our online seminar series features an exciting line-up of researchers and practitioners sharing their field and lab projects that use the behavioural and decision sciences to "nudge for good". Details of upcoming seminars and recordings of past seminars are available on the BI Wiki.

UBC-DIBS has partnered with UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies to offer behavioural insights courses to help working professionals develop the behavioural insights knowledge and skills to tackle sticky problems and create positive behavioural change.

Fundamentals of Behavioural Insights

Learn how Behavioural Insights creates positive behaviour change with this introductory, three-week, live online course that gives you the knowledge to add a BI lens to how you approach problems.

Advanced Professional Certificate in Behavioural Insights

Become a Behavioural Insights Practitioner with this rigorous, nine-month, live online program that combines coursework and a capstone project. A focus on experiential learning helps you develop the knowledge and skills to create solutions that draw on the behavioural and decision sciences, test those solutions using the scientific method, use BI ethically, and guard against misuse.

Behavioural Insights Wiki

The UBC-DIBS BI wiki hosts resources to support folks wanting to learn about or use behavioural insights to tackle challenges. The wiki also has news, working papers, learning and career resources, and recommendations for further reading, listening, and watching. 

Calling DIBS Podcast

The podcast is a glimpse into the world of behavioural insights through interviews with BI enthusiasts and experts from BC and beyond. Hosted by Kirstin Appelt, UBC-DIBS Research Director, the podcast covers topics including how to conduct BI projects, uses of BI across sectors, how BI tackles challenges like the climate crisis and Reconciliation, how BI intersects with fields like user experience and marketing, BI careers, and BI critiques. New episodes are posted regularly during the academic year.

BIG Difference BC Community, Newsletter, & Blog

Through newsletters, conferences, a blog and other activities, BIG Difference BC brings together a network of BI enthusiasts and experts from government, academia, and across the public, non-profit, and private sectors in British Columbia and beyond. BIG Difference BC is co-led by UBC-DIBS and the BC Behavioural Insights Group (BC BIG) with the support of a cross-sectoral advisory board.
