BUSI 352 - Case Studies in Residential Appraisal

Course Structure

This is a scheduled online course that is completed over 15 weeks. The weekly work typically includes reading one lesson and completing a multiple choice assignment. In addition, there are two term projects required and the course ends with a written online examination.

Lesson No. 1: Scope and the Canadian Residential Appraiser 
Lesson No. 2: Market Analysis - Highest and Best Use and Feasibility
Lesson No. 3: Appraising Residential Condominiums 
Lesson No. 4: Land Valuation 
Lesson No. 5: Appraising Multi-Family Residential Properties 
Lesson No. 6: Appraising Rural and Remote Properties
Lesson No. 7: Appraising Waterfront Residential Properties
Lesson No. 8: Detrimental Conditions and Impaired Properties 
Lesson No. 9: Expropriation and Appraisal Review 
Lesson No. 10: Valuation of Specialized Interests 
Lesson No. 11: Specialized Valuation Services

Weekly multiple choice assignments: 10% of final grade.

Project 1: Lessons 1-5: Written and calculation short answer questions and a case study: 20% of final grade

Project 2: Lessons 6-11: Written and calculation short answer questions and a case study: 20% of final grade

Final exam: Multiple choice, short-answer written questions and case studies: 50% of final grade
