Learning Services

Learning design

Our job is to help UBC Sauder staff and faculty create excellent teaching and learning experiences and environments, which may or may not use technology. We provide consultation and expertise in the planning, development, design, delivery and evaluation of engaging and effective programs and activities for business education.

Our academic and real-world experience resolve challenges inherent in teaching in a variety of settings (including online and blended courses) with a wide range of learners.

Teaching activities and strategies

We work with faculty as consultants and collaborators to provide personalized, just-in-time support for their teaching activities. Our approach is to help educators find and develop personalized strategies and teaching methods that work for them in their particular courses. We are interested in helping UBC Sauder faculty explore new, innovative ways of thinking and doing within the context of learning experiences for their students. The Learning Services team provides individual consulting, design, and action research services to help meet most needs. If we can’t help, we’ll find someone who can, through resources at CTLT or beyond.

Innovation in teaching and learning

Are you a UBC Sauder faculty member with a great idea for a project to improve the learning experience of your students? We can help you with project planning, design, and implementation. Learning Services can provide technical expertise and development assistance to help make your project idea a reality. We have worked with faculty to create simulation games, engaging hands-on classroom activities, flipped classroom structures, and projects focused on creating course-specific communities of blogs, wikis and portfolios.

Curriculum development

UBC Sauder, like other schools, is working to establish effective and efficient procedures for curriculum development and assessment practices that will help us maintain and enhance our ranking as a global leader in business education.

In addition to meeting this challenge, changes in teaching environments (such as new large classrooms) and stakeholder expectations (related to graduate outcomes) are driving demand for revisions to existing curriculum. New programs are also creating a need for curriculum design and support.

Our consultants can offer guidance, support and design services to faculty and staff, to help them meet administrative and pedagogical challenges related to curriculum development.
