UBC has once again ranked highly in business-related categories against other schools worldwide in the 2020 QS World University Rankings by Subject, released this week.

The university placed prominently in the Accounting and Finance, Business and Management, and Economics and Econometrics categories.

UBC ranked first in Canada and 40th globally in the Business and Management category, rising from a 2019 position of 2nd in Canada and 46th globally.

UBC maintained its position from 2019 of second in Canada in the Accounting and Finance category, but rose from 39th to 33rd in the global ranking.

UBC also improved its 2020 position, both within Canada and globally, in the Economics and Econometrics category, rising from second to first in Canada and from 29th to 22nd in the world.

The QS World Rankings compare the world's leading educational institutions against key metrics including academic reputation, faculty/student ratio and international faculty ratio. The 2020 Rankings by Subject drew on responses from nearly 95,000 academics worldwide and focused on teaching and research quality of universities; the survey also evaluated 'citations per faculty' across a five-year-period to examine the institution's contributions to academia and furthering critical research.

UBC also recently secured the top spot in Maclean's 2020 ranking of the best business programs in Canada, a position it has held for three consecutive years.
