Dhillon Centre announces “Business for Social Good” research grant winners

The Dhillon Centre for Business Ethics at UBC Sauder is pleased to announce the winners of its 2020 “Business for Social Good” research grant program:

First place: PhD student Oludolapo Makinde, and advisor Dr. Carol Liao, for research on “Combating Corruption for Stakeholders and Social Good: From Canadian Multinationals to Global South State-Owned Enterprises.

Runner up: PhD student Shangwen Yi, and advisor Dr. David Hardisty, for research on “’To Donate’ or ‘Be Donors’? Motivating Blood Donation Using Identity-Framing Norm”.

Runner up: PhD student Ekin Ok, and advisor Dr. Karl Aquino, for research on “How Receiving Prosocial Gifts Affects Future Donations to Organizations: Role of Warm Glow and Agency Perceptions”.

"We are excited to be able to encourage and support graduate student led research related to values based business leadership" says Katherine White, Academic Director of the Dhillon Centre and Professor of Marketing and Behavioural Science at UBC Sauder.

The Dhillon Centre Business for Social Good Grant supports early-stage, innovative research that involves graduate students and examines how business can be a force for social good. Submissions were adjudicated by an external expert judging panel.
