UBC Sauder’s new dean, Darren Dahl, is coming to Asia and would like to meet you!

Reconnect with fellow alumni and supporters of the UBC Sauder School of Business as we officially introduce Dean Darren Dahl to our communities in Asia. Dean Dahl will be visiting and hosting receptions in Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Enjoy complimentary drinks and canapés followed by a fireside chat with Dean Dahl in conversation with a prominent UBC Sauder alumni host. Dean Dahl will answer questions from the audience and share updates on the school, including plans for a new landmark project.

Singapore - Sean McNulty (BCom’13)

Senior Trader, Coinhako

Sean Bellamy McNulty (BCom'13) is a seasoned financial professional and Head of Options Trading at Coinhako. His foundation in finance was laid at the UBC Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance and a minor in Economics. While at UBC, Sean was recognized on the Dean's Honour Roll. He also received the Vancouver Security Traders Scholarship for his academic achievement and passion for finance. During his time at UBC, Sean participated in international exchanges at NUS and CUHK in Hong Kong, earning the Lee Foundation Student Mobility Award and a Go Global Scholarship for academic excellence while on exchange. Following his time at UBC, Sean completed his MBA at the National University of Singapore and has since built an impressive career in trading, with key roles at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto and JP Morgan Chase in Singapore. He now is part of the leadership of Coinhako's derivatives trading desk, leveraging his expertise in options trading to contribute to the company's growth and continue its leadership as the top cryptocurrency exchange in Singapore.

Hong Kong - Ken Poon (BCom'90)

Founder and Managing Partner, XCap Partners Limited

Ken is the Founder and Managing Partner of XCap Partners Limited, a boutique Merchant Bank focused on advising Asian companies on raising private debt and equity financing. Prior to this, Ken was the Asia-Pacific Head of Capital Markets Origination at Citigroup.

Ken has over 28 years of experience in Asian Capital Markets and has completed landmark transactions in every active market across the region. In 2014, Ken played a key role in advising on the NYSE listing of Alibaba which raised US$25 bn and is still one of the largest IPO in the world.

Other equity transactions that Ken has led-managed include: AIA’s US$20.5bn IPO, Sands China’s US$2.5bn IPO, Global Logistics Property US$3 bn IPO, China Railway Construction’s US$5.7bn IPO, Melco’s US$1.3bn Nasdaq IPO, Sun Hung Kai Property’s US$1bn equity placement, LG. Philips LCD’s US$2.2bn equity offering, Hynix’s US$2.2bn equity follow on offering, over US$1bn of secondary equity placements for Esprit, and REIT IPOs for GZI, Suntec, and Champion from PRC, Singapore, and Hong Kong respectively.

Ken holds a Finance degree from the University of British Columbia, and a Executive MBA Joint Degree from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and Peking University Guanghua School of Management.

Shanghai - Katherine Song (MBA’00)

Managing Director of Sky Vision Company Ltd

Born and raised in China, Katherine Song graduated with a UBC Master of Business Administration from the UBC Sauder School of Business in 2000. She was subsequently hired as a Financial Analyst by Boeing in Seattle WA in 2001. In 2006, Katherine relocated to Shanghai and assumed the role of Program Manager and Boeing Site Leader. In 2010, she started to collaborate with McKinsey and other world-wide advisory firms on program management best practices, business strategy and leadership development. Between 2012 – 2015, Katherine was Director, Customer & Product Support for Asia Pacific at Honeywell Aerospace. In 2016, Katherine began to work with GP Strategies Corporation and later Korn Ferry on project management and leadership consultancy and training. Her major training and coaching customers include HSBC, Morgan Stanley, Bosch and Volkswagen etc.

Katherine is also an active community builder. She was elected President of Expatriate Professional Women’s Society in 2007-2008. She serves on the Council of The Royal Asiatic Society China in Shanghai and has convened its Film Club since 2019. Currently, she manages and grows her firm Sky Vision Consulting Co. Ltd. and in the meantime contributes most of her free time in promoting Chinese films.
