Susan Yurkovich

President & CEO, Council of Forest Industries & BC Lumber Trade Council

Susan Yurkovich is executive vice president at BC Hydro. Since 2007, Susan has been leading the development of the Site C Clean Energy Project, an $8.3 billion dollar hydroelectric dam and generating station on the Peace River in Northeast British Columbia. Listed as the largest infrastructure project in the country by ReNew Canada Magazine, the project has successfully completed a comprehensive multiyear joint federal-provincial environmental assessment. Construction will begin in 2015.

Prior to joining BC Hydro, she spent more than a decade working in the forest sector as an executive at Canfor Corporation and a number of years working in Ottawa as an advisor to the Federal Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development as well as to the Minister of National Defense.

Born and raised in British Columbia, Ms. Yurkovich holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia, a diploma in international business from Erasmus University, Netherlands and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

She is currently a governor of the Business Council of BC. She is a past governor of the University of British Columbia and Director of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, Pharmasave Drugs (National), Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and the Vancouver Board of Trade.
